Why use Diffuser Jewelry?
Why should you be diffusing essential oils with a necklace diffuser or leather bracelet?
Why not just put the essential oil on your skin or use an electric room diffuser? There are many different ways you can diffuse essential oils. You can put the oils directly on your skin, you can put them on your sleeve or collar, you can use a room diffuser or you can put them on personal diffuser jewelry with natural cork, lava stones/beads and leather.
What’s the difference? When you put the oils on your skin your body quickly absorbs the oil, making it difficult for you to smell the aroma after a short time. When you put oil on your sleeve, or collar the oil will dissipate very quickly because there is nothing to contain the oil.
More and more today we are learning about the connection between the mind and body. We know that getting to a place of feeling good is a great proactive approach to staying healthy. Since aroma is processed in the part of the brain responsible for memory, emotion and trauma, inhaling pure essential oils profoundly affects the way we feel!
Diffusing essential oils with a wearable diffuser that effectively and continuously disperses the oil into the air you breathe is a powerful way to support your desire to feel good all day long.
Taking care your Essential Oil Diffuser Jewelry
Alloy Metals and Stainless Steel Options:
Our essential oil locket jewelry falls into two categories. Some of our lockets are made from alloy metals which are mixtures of elements such as iron, gold, copper, and zinc. These lockets are then plated, as noted in the product descriptions, to give them a finish that is silver, bronze, copper, antiqued, or gold in color. The shinier the plating, the more care it will require when using with essential oils.
We also have a line of jewelry that is made from stainless steel. Stainless steel is also an alloy that contains 2-3% molybdenum so that it has more resistance to corrosion, rust and discoloring from oxidation. Due to the material, this type of essential oil jewelry requires the least amount of cleaning and care. Some of the chains on our plated lockets are also made from this material.
Sterling Silver
A few of our products have chains that are sterling silver (as noted in the product descriptions). Sterling Silver is an alloy that contains at least 92.5% silver.
How should I care for my plated jewelry?
With ANY type f metal jewelry (aside from gold and platinum), tarnish will occur over time. Exposure to moisture, air, oils (skin or otherwise), high temps and high humidity can speed up the process, which is actually a chemical reaction where sulfurs in the environment break down the topmost layer of the metal (oxidation). This is what may appear to discolor the metal, and what is known as tarnish.Unfortunately, this can’t be prevented completely, but controlling the environment that you store your jewelry in will help slow down the process. We suggest keeping your jewelry in a cool, dry place (NOT the bathroom!) and preferably even in a plastic baggie. Not very stylish, but it will help it last longer!
Cleaning your plated jewelry needs to be done carefully, as the plated layer is thin. It is suggested that you wipe off your jewelry with a soft cloth after use, and try to avoid dropping the oils directly on the jewelry; instead, remove the cork to apply the oils, let them soak in for a minute, and then place the cork in your jewelry. Every 1-2 weeks, you may also choose to clean any plated jewelry with a mild solution of dish soap and warm water to maintain the shine.
Thank you,
